As part of the Semiquincentennial anniversary of the founding of the United States of America, the Nevada Division of Museums and History and Nevada Arts Council have teamed up to collect stories from Nevadans for the first statewide oral history archive. This historic archive will be curated as an audio time capsule through the stories of multiple generations and perspectives.

The Nevada National Guard is set to host its 27th annual Flag Day Ceremony and the U.S. Army’s 250th Birthday celebration in partnership with Nevada State Archives at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, June 14, at the Veterans Memorial on the Capitol Grounds, 101 N. Carson St.
Historic Washington Elm re-dedicated on Arbor Day as part of America 250 Commemoration
The Nevada State Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR), in partnership with the Battle Born and Nevada Sagebrush Chapters, will host a re-dedication ceremony for the historic Washington Elm on Friday, April 25, at 10 a.m. on the Capitol grounds in Carson City. The event is free and open to the public.
America250 Nevada Announces Celebratory Ceremony: Two Lights for Tomorrow
Nevada will join other states in the nation in a ceremony called Two Lights for Tomorrow. A nationwide initiative, this is a commemoration of the famous ride of Paul Revere along with other riders to warn patriot leaders on an overnight ride on April 18, 1775. Their goal was to alert Samuel Adams and John Hancock in Lexington, and colonial militias in nearby towns about the approach of British troops before the Battles of Lexington and Concord, thus sparking the Revolutionary War. Two Lights for Tomorrow uses the imagery of those two shining lights as a uniting call for our citizens to celebrate and serve.
America250 Nevada Commission Held First Meeting, Outlined Initiatives, and Fundraising Goals
The first meeting of the America250 Nevada Commission was held online today with the newly appointed commissioners with Congressman Mark Amodei as chair. The agenda included the voting of a vice chair, identifying fundraising goals, and an outline of the state’s plans from staff and partners.

Nevada Governor Joe Lombardo called on Nevadans to begin preparing for the nation's 250th birthday in 2026. At a press conference held earlier today at the Governor’s Mansion in Carson City, Governor Lombardo introduced America250, a non-partisan national initiative to honor the anniversary of the United States of America.
