Celebrate Washoe Valley

  • Washoe Lake State Park 4855 Eastlake Boulevard New Washoe City, NV, 89704 United States (map)

Celebrate Washoe Valley is an annual event held at Washoe Lake State Park. Representatives from federal, state, and local government agencies, and volunteer community organizations set up booths, answer questions, and provide information about how they preserve, protect, and maintain the regional environment. Educational resources about wildlife, recreational opportunities, historic landmarks, and scenic byways are made available. Local government agencies provide information about how to protect homes and respond in emergencies. Lunch will be prepared for purchase by the South Valleys Volunteer Fire Department. Music by Northern Nevada Bluegrass Association will fill the air.

Celebrate Washoe Valley is excited to announce the launch of three informative and independent maps as part of the America250 series, highlighting the area's remarkable history. These maps trace the historic provision routes of the Washoe tribes and illustrate the profound impact of the Comstock Lode. With these self-guided maps and accompanying historical markers, you’ll explore the stories that shaped the American West in Nevada. As we commemorate America's 250th birthday, we remain dedicated to preserving and protecting Washoe Valley—its stunning landscape, rich culture, and vibrant history.
